Red Dragon Delight
Okay, I would be sorely remiss as a beer blogger were I not to inform you of Alley Kat's newest Big Bottle Series brew, Red Dragon Double IPA ... O-M-G! This is one not-to-be-missed DIPA. No, SERIOUSLY!
DOH! I was commenting on how I loved the red amber color only to just now realize that is likely the reason for its name. <sigh!> I'm a sucker for IPAs and expecially for DIPAs but, in addition to the expected big IPA flavor, Red Dragon has a pronounced caramelly flavour that gives it a bit more of an earthy quality setting it apart from the other DIPAs I've sampled. And it is trivially known to the most casual observer that the flavor experience of all good beers starts with the nose. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Red Dragon met my nose gloriously at each quaff making me stop in my tracks just to take in a bit more fragrance before every sip. The mouth feel is a bit thicker and therefore, IMHO, more enjoyable. And the 100+ IBUs are certainly well balanced so as to not shred the tongue. Thanks once again, Alley Kat (they've done it so many times in the past) for truely one of the greats!!!
